(DBA has been deprecated by Microsoft - refer to note above for details) There are multiple methods to deploy Office 365 ProPlus with Device Based Activation (DBA). Options listed below are intended to act as an overview of supported deployment options. Please review the information posted and e-mail windows@colostate.edu if you have questions about deploying Office ProPlus 365 DBA in your area.

Note that the tenant and installation keys are not posted in the example commands shown. Both will be provided upon request when your area is ready to use or test Office 365 ProPlus DBA.

Manually install Office 365 ProPlus DBA on a Windows PC

Executing opptransition.exe will first attempt to uninstall previous versions of Office (ex: Office 2010, Office 2013, etc.) and then proceed to install Office 365 Pro Plus DBA. Opptransition.exe can be run on both domain-joined and non-domain-joined PCs.

  1. Download Office 365 ProPlus installation files from Microsoft.

    1. Download latest version of the OPPTransition.exe Installer (.zip file).
    2. Download the Office Deployment Tool.
    3. Extract the contents of both downloads (OPPT_Current.zip AND officedeploymenttool_versionX.exe) to a folder such as "C:\Temp\OfficeDBA". Note that OPPTransition.exe and Setup.exe MUST be in the same directory.
    4. Modify “configuration.xml” from the Office Deployment Tool with the desired deployment options. For reference, an example configuration.xml file is available or you can use the Office Customization Tool.
    5. From a command prompt, execute "setup.exe /download configuration.xml" to download the O365 source files locally. Save the files to the same folder where OPPTransition.exe and Setup.exe are located.

  2. From an elevated command prompt execute the following - to acquire the tenant and license keys, please e-mail windows@colostate.edu:

    OPPTransition.exe -Tenant ZZZZZ-ZZZZ-ZZZZ-ZZZZ-ZZZZZZZ -Key XXX-XXXX-XXXX-XXX-XXXX -Domain O365DBA.colostate.edu

  3. Optional: Verify that Office 365 ProPlus DBA is installed by opening Microsoft Word > Create a new document > Go to "File" > "Account" > Verify that the "Click-to-Run" version of Office is listed under "Product Information"

Add Office 365 using Device Based Activation into a Master Image
