How to Configure Your Palm Pre for Mailbox Sync with Central Exchange

The Palm Pre, available from CSU Telecom, is fully capable of syncing with Central Exchange. To configure your Pre, perform the following steps:

  1. Tap the Messages icon on the desktop of the phone.
  2. Select the Microsoft Exchange option on the "Add an E-mail Account" screen. If this screen is not immediately visible, tap the top right of the screen to get a menu, then select "Preferences and Accounts".
  3. Type in your e-mail address and password.
    • Email address: eName@mail.colostate.edu (replace "eName" with your eID user name)
    • Password: Enter your eID password
  4. Tap the Sign In button.
  5. Ensure that Mail Type is "Exchange (EAS)". If it is not, tap that option to change it to the correct setting.
  6. For Incoming Mail Server, enter the following information:
    • Server: mail.colostate.edu
    • Domain: colostate
    • Username: eName (use your eID user name)
    • Password: Enter your eID password
  7. Tap and slide the display upwards to scroll down and reveal the sign in button, then tap Sign In.
  8. Once the process is complete and your phone is configured correctly, you should see the message "Exchange: Syncing account..." at the bottom of your screen.
