Office 365 - Skype for Business

Skype for Business provides instant messaging (IM), audio, and video calling. It also supports desktop sharing on Windows-based computers. CSU Skype users can use Skype to connect with other CSU Skype for Business users or external contacts using Skype.


All active CSU Faculty, Staff, and Students are licensed to use Skype for Business. Skype for Business is available to users regardless of their eligibility for Office ProPlus or Student Advantage.

Skype for Business Client Setup Steps (applicable for Mac or Windows-based computers).

The instructions below are intended to provide introductory steps for accessing and using Skype for Business.

  1. Check with your System Administrator to see if the Skype for Business client is installed on your computer as part of Microsoft Office. If you do not have the Skype for Business client installed, you can install the client from the O365 Portal using the steps below:
    1. Navigate to the O365 Portal and login with your CSU eID in the format of
    2. Click the "Other installs" link that appears under the 'Install Office 2016' box in upper right section of the O365 Portal.
    3. Under "Software" (on the left), click "Skype for Business".
    4. Choose the desired version and then click "Install".
    5. After installing the client, be sure to check for and install any applicable updates.
  2. Launch the Skype for Business client and login using your eName formatted as along with your eID password.

Note: If you are prompted to enter both an e-mail address and a UserID during the install or login process, you should enter in both fields.
