Central Exchange Account Options

If you are eligible for a Central Exchange Account, you will see the Exchange-related options shown below under the "Change E-mail Address" section of eID. If you have questions about Exchange options or settings, please consult your local IT department or e-mail help@colostate.edu.

Note: Starting December 29, 2014, the options presented via the "Change E-mail Address" form will be updated as Exchange eligibility will be extended to include to all eIDs except for undergraduate students. New users who aren't undergraduate students will automatically be assigned an Exchange mailbox during the eID create process. The "Central Exchange for Calendar Only" and "No Central Exchange" options are also being depreciated but a user's current setting will be viewable for users who had previously selected an option other than "Central Exchange for E-mail and Calendaring". Users can create Inbox rules to mimic calendar-only or "No Central Exchange" options.

Central Exchange for E-Mail and Calendaring

Selecting the Central Exchange for E-Mail and Calendaring option as your e-mail and calendaring option from eID will deliver mail sent to your First.Last@ColoState.EDU e-mail address to your Exchange mailbox. In addition, a .forward will be generated for your Lamar account so that mail delivered to that account will automatically be forwarded to your Exchange mailbox. Your Exchange mailbox will also include calendaring functionality along with tools to manage contacts, tasks, and notes. Work with your local IT staff to set up and configure an e-mail client (in most cases Microsoft Outlook) to connect to your Exchange account and to determine migration methods if you are transitioning from a non-Exchange e-mail and/or calendaring system. Alternatively, once your account has been created, you can access it immediately by logging into Outlook Web Access (or OWA) at https://mail.colostate.edu using your eName and ePassword.

Central Exchange for Calendar Only

Note: Starting December 29, 2014, the Calendar Only option will no longer be an option for users who had not previously selected the calendar-only option.

Selecting the Central Exchange for Calendar Only option as your e-mail and calendaring option from eID will forward all messages delivered to your Exchange mailbox to the e-mail address you specified to receive your First.Last@ColoState.EDU e-mail. This allows you to perform e-mail functions using your organization's e-mail system while utilizing Central Exchange services for calendaring and voicemail. In order to create and respond to Exchange Calendar requests, you will need to use the web interface (Outlook Web Access or OWA) for Exchange at https://mail.colostate.edu. Also, if you select this option, it is recommended that you follow the steps outlined to Import Exchange rules for "Calendar-Only Users". As part of the transition from the Octel voicemail system to Central Exchange Voicemail, Calendar Only Exchange accounts will also serve as the mailbox for voicemail. When a voicemail message is created for a person with a Calendar Only Exchange account, an e-mail with the voicemail message added as an attachment will be sent to the person's Exchange mailbox and forwarded to the e-mail address specified at eID.

No Central Exchange

Note: Starting December 29, 2014, the "No Central Exchange" option will no longer be an option for users who had not previously selected the option.

Selecting the No Central Exchange option as your e-mail and calendaring option from eID will deliver mail sent to your First.Last@ColoState.EDU e-mail address to the e-mail address you specified at the eID website.
